The latest guidance from the regulatory body, ARLA|Propertymark, to Estate & Letting Agents is HERE


“A senior civil servant at Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) this morning, provided guidance for the sector to Propertymark.

The civil servant stated that agents are not “essential businesses” under the new rules and therefore their view is that agents should close their offices immediately.

Furthermore, they stated that there should not be any in-person viewings, routine inspections or house moves.

MHCLG is still looking into property maintenance tasks such as gas safety checks and hopes to issue guidance on these points as soon as possible.”

On Monday 23rd March, the Government instructed that all “non-essential” businesses must now work from home and all “non-emergency” travel has also been outlawed.

This means that from Tuesday 24th March, whilst we still remain “open”, our branches are fully shut down until further notice.

We’re now no longer able to arrange viewings, valuations, take-ons, inspections, check-ins, check-outs or travel to our offices to pick up keys and arrange collections.

The Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Goverment (MHCLG) has this morning confirmed that all estate agency and lettings agency business is defined as “non-essential” and so unfortunately, until circumstances change, there is nothing we can do about it.

There is no denying that over the coming weeks, there are going to be lots of challenges, big delays, frustration and stress – but we are all in the same boat and this is the situation for every single property business and their customers across the UK right now.

Over the coming days and weeks, we will be responding to requests and enquiries as best we can and will aim to reply within 24 hours.
