With the football (best to not mention it) and the impending removal of Covid restrictions taking up most of the headlines this week, property news has taken a bit of a back seat.
We have however found a few interesting articles about further planned developments of new homes in and around Derby, a farewell story to an historic Derby landmark, some interesting insights into mortgage lending and some great advice as to why professional property marketing is the key to achieving a quicker sale!
Firstly, Derbyshire have covered the final moments of the old Derby Fireplace building that has long since been a focal point along the A52. The property has now been demolished to make way for a Marks and Spencer foodhall. You can find out about the history of the building and see images and video of its final moments here:
Next up, a report also from Derbyshire Live highlights the granted planning permission for 22 new homes on the outskirts of Mackworth. The planned development will include an MOT service centre but will unfortunately mean the need for a local car sales business to relocate. You can find out more here:
Moving on to the BBC news reports and we have come across an interesting article that highlights the difficulties that some self employed people are finding in securing a mortgage. According to the report, those who have taken out Covid grants are now being refused mortgages from high street lenders. You can view the full article below.
And of course, if you need any help or advice, our in-house mortgage teams will be keeping a close eye on the situation.
And last but not least, our friends over at Estate Agent Today online magazine have reported findings from a recent survey that suggest that having a professional marketing pack does indeed sell homes quicker, with properties opting for professional photography, floorplans and 360 tours selling on average, 48% faster than those without. Something we are well aware of here at Hannells!
